Oligogenic

26 de January de 2021

An oligogenic characteristic is one that is determined by the combination of several genes.

The variability in the clinical severity of several diseases consideredmonogenic, led to the suggestion that that the identified gene may not be the only one, and there would be other genes that may act contributing to the effect of the main gene.Advances in Genomics andmicroarraytechnology have facilitated the identification and study of oligogenic characteristics that were difficult to approach using traditional techniques.
