A monogenic characteristic, such as a monogenic disease, isone that isdeterminedby a single gene, such as cystic fibrosis.Until recently it has been based genetic studies in monogenic characteristics, but the development of modern molecular genetic techniques has made available the study of characteristics determined by multiple genes.
